The New FaceBook, Slicker or Or More Cluttered?

by nikolas on August 11, 2008

Fun, new, clean and fresh the Facebook people told me. So i gathered up my limited bandwidth and dived right in to see what all the fuss was about.

Methinks they have finally cracked it.

Methinks they have finally cracked it.

I am no Facebook fan although when i recently logged in to check what my family has been up to and ogle a number of photographs, i was invited to try out the new Facebook on log-in and since i happen to be beta freak i hopped right onto the bandwagon to see what they had in store. I was not disappointed at all, suffice to say since i find the new layout very uncluttered and very clean and organised. I still find it a tad difficult to navigate to settings related to my account but i could chalk this up to not being in Facebook for more than ten minutes at a time. As a fan of simple, elegant, minimalist design this new Facebook look is just the thing to draw me in, and i am ashamed to say i actually spent a couple of hours poking about and making changes to my profile, deleting applications i did not need and basically cleaning up. No, i did not upload any more photographs, i may just be the only person who does not use Facebook to show my face.

This i find was too cluttered to be of much use.

I ask those avid Facebook fans to tell us what they think of the new site design and layout. I do not think i am qualified to deliver a verdict on this site. Either my connection has improved, highly doubt it or the site is lighter and snappier. I await your responses in the comments section.

hai Tandra.

i find it more functional and usable because of the clutter. Plain? How about easier to navigate instead?

i like the new lay out although i think its a bit too scarce for my liking. Like they did not have anything to fill in the spaces.

I logged in, liked it, but moved back to the old version…I found it kinda unfamiliar, but it’s definitely snappier.

Well, it’s less cluttered, one doesn’t have to scroll through acres of silly applications and fun walls to get to the Wall. But it doesn’t work well with Opera Mini, so I switched back to the older version. Cluttered, but more familiar. I’m not really a fan of change, I like things being as they are.

I prefer the old facebook, it’s so facebook, the new facebook doesn’t give me that facebook feeling :)

Not wading through a million apps to get to the wall is good…but to be honest I prefer the older version….but err getting used to the new one being the addict I’m am
